Pain often shows up in our lives like a warning light on a dashboard — anxiety, anger, sadness, or isolation. But just like a light on the dashboard, those emotions are symptoms, not the source. Real healing requires courage to go deeper and ask, Where is this really coming from?

Sometimes the root is childhood trauma. Sometimes it’s betrayal, rejection, or words spoken over us that we never let go of. Often, we try to manage the fruit — like perfectionism, control, or avoidance — without digging up the root.

Today, I took time to sit with God and ask, “What’s underneath this pain I keep covering?” I felt the Holy Spirit gently uncover moments I thought I had buried. I wrote them down. I cried. I prayed. And in that space, I felt the Lord whisper, “You are safe now. Let Me heal it.”

Healing isn’t instant — it’s a process. But acknowledging the root is the first step to freedom. No more patching symptoms. It’s time to invite God into the broken places and let Him pull the pain up by the root.
